Episode 19 – “Asemu’s Departure”

Fast forward. Acceptance into Earth Federation for Asemu and Romary. Froi Olfenoa, an Earth Federation Government. Another introduction to new characters. Returning characters are: Millais as Captain of Diva, Dique Gunhale mechanic, Arisa Gunhale; daughter of Dique and pilot of Adele #2, Max Hartway pilot of Adele #1, Obright Lorain pilot of Genoace #2 and finally Woolf pilot of G-Bouncer and other supporting unnamed crew. Gundam Age-2 has 2 forms, Strider mode(flight) and the regular humanoid mode. Age-2 kind of reminds me of 00-raiser and the ability to transform like Wingzero, one of the best Gundams out there.

Meanwhile for Zeheart, he became the commander of “Earth Occupation Forces” handed to him by Lord Ezeclant. Ezeclant mentioned back in episode 15 he was known as ‘Sir’ now he’s “Lord” so we’ll once again be asking questions unless, it was translation problem. But I still think Vagan has much of a bigger back story than just getting deserted and revenge against Earthlings. Onto Zeheart, it looks like he’s going to be the ‘Char Aznable’ of Gundam Age, why I say this is because next weeks previous there will be a red Gundam, and Char inspired characters either has a mask to hid it’s identity which Zeheart will probably do to hid himself from Asemu and Romary to have the strength to fight, or give Asemu the strength to fight knowing that it’s just some commander. Yes next week there is a new UE suit, and it’s red… Then again it’s only up to our imagination.

Odd information, during the episode Dique mentioned about the strider only able to do 3 times of transformation. If this is it’s limit on power to transform, it can be costly for Asemu since it seems he’s just as reckless as Flit was. UE release another mobile suit, and it has a cannon. Also I’m kind of disappointed in the animation, every time during battles the quality of the suits dip dramatically, seriously Woolf’s suit is all white, sure there are more detail than the first suit of his but it’s not an excuses to crap out on the animation. It is 2012 after all.

Episode 18 “Graduation Ceremony Battle”

Graduation day, how did it get here already? Well Graduation and Vagan plans have been stalled for a long time, coincidentally military Police did some digging finding Zeheart may be related to attacks of Vagan. In the past year Zeheart became a very dear friend to Asemu. However Zeheart yet to release until this day, where Asemu is defending him against the Military Police. Daz the man who has been working along Zeheart this past year, which we finally learn his name takes Romary hostage so Zeheart has a chance to escape. Zeheart has his little own Epiphany when he first board his suit. Pondering if he would stay with Romary and Asemu and drop the whole Vagan thing. One thing progress to another is that I leaning toward that he’s going to help Asemu later on… and during crossfire he or Romary will die… sad truth about Gundam is these lame tragedies that happen. The fight between Zeheart and Asemu and revealing himself to Asemu to end this friendship, it was wise to end it fast rather than later. The thing Romary saw it too which would make the later episodes Romary and Asemu may try to “bring” Zeheart back thus making her probably going to join Diva. Again this is all my speculation.

During the previous fights and the fight that happen in this episode, it was apparent that Gundam Age was showing Age for the lack of a better term. It was lacking in it’s offensive and defensive aspects. His shield was easily taken out by Zeheart. Age’s movement were also slow, which next episode introduces the new Gundam that has wing-like weapons. What I fear is that it’s going to fall back on the AGE system to build new parts instead of an all around suit that can handle anything like other gundams. Although the OP does show it changing wings, it doesn’t change the significantly so hopefully it’ll just be stat boost.

Other notable. Dorado Team, responsible of space attacking the colony in the episode, little to no information, most likely introduction to a commander next ep. Zeheart using his X-Rounder power in this fight against Asemu, so it’ was already unfair do to Age lacking in other aspects.

Episode 17 ‘Friendship, Love, and Mobile Suits’

Unexpected acquaintances brings an unexpected future for this love triangle. Following the incident occurring from the previous episode, his secret piloting the Gundam must remain a secret. Thus brings us to Zeheart’s espionage mission seize the Gundam with help from one of his friend. To infiltrate Zeheart joined their club; however Shawee did oppose it but changed his mind after helping them re-calibrated their mobile suit with little effort needed. Now the fun begins, Romary is suddenly infatuated with Zehart after an incident that Shawee caused, that Zeheart jumped and caught a flying wrench.  Thus the 2nd love triangle begins in Arc 2… this time it’s much different 2 guys and 1 girl – and 1 of the guy is a Vegan…This is certainly not a first reminding me of the Gundam Seed triangle between Flay, Sai and Kira… good thing Flay died in that series but not that I want Romary to die since her character has yet to really develop. I mean in contrast to Flay there’s a huge difference and why you wanted her to die…Romary is not the cause but I hate to see these type of relationships and one person dies and it gets all depression and all.

Anyways we got a new character this week, little info on him from this episode; besides him being one of Zeheart’s accomplice. Another is Zeheart’s mobile suit – Zedas R seems like an upgraded version of Decil’s however this one is enhanced version better fitted for X-Rounders.

On the preview for next weeks episode. It looks like the love triangle might be short lived since Zeheart is still on his mission regardless of how friendly he’s bonded to Asemu. Also Woolf makes a return… perhaps his son?

Episode 16 “The Gundam in the Stable”

The future generation must path the road ahead. The start of a new arc in the Age series, 25 years later. The Vagans have expanded their territory yet still with the same goal, retake earth by means of wiping out it’s population. This second arc from the first episode looks more forced on Asemu (Flit’s son) and more school side of things where most if not all main conflict will occur here besides the battlefield, since they did introduce a TON of new characters. Asemu’s friend Shawee and Macil; Asemu’s possible love interest – Romary stone and her to friends yet to be named and a Vargan whose on an espionage mission and named Zeheart Galette. First glance his mission is to get intel on the Gundam and possibly we can see a copy of it. As for Flit, his personality didn’t seem changed, being the Commander, he sure hasn’t changed as he kept his promise from episode 15; he wants to wipe out the Vagans from the universe very bold words, and it seems Flit is making a new Gundam – based off the Age. Flit did marry Emily since they have two kids, Asemu and Unoa.

So some speculations, Zeheart and another possible commander woke up from Cold Sleep which they use to freeze people or crew member to save supplies and such for long space journey mentioned about ‘Project Eden’ Phase 2; assuming the first arc is Phase 1 and they failed… or did they fail? that’s really the question, since a lot is still unanswered – we only have one of their goals. So this Arc will still have a lot of questions looming.

After watching the OP, the new gundam will have wings… and the return of Gundam Titan and Spallow… and the weird thing is that it doesn’t seem like it changes the body much but it changes the wings. Another is the return of Woolf and his son with Millais. Dique looks the the new mechanic for the returning Diva. Romary,Shawee and Macil looks like they will join the Diva crew as well. Episode 15 “Those Tears Fall in Space”

A battle is not won by how big your army is, it’s about how you utilize them.

This is the final episode in this arc(of 3) You can say it resolved and can carry on. Things there were mentioned in this episode is interesting is that Yark Dole is that he’s not a X-Rounder but his suit has a system called “Psychomet Mucell” that draws the power of X-region… Which means SOME UE can be fake X-rounders like Desil… but not Yurin as she was taken because she has real X-Rounder powers, and yes Flit’s real. So we finally find out who and what the intentions are from UE from the words of Yark Dole.

So around 150years back or so, Earth decided to colonize Mars, because of it’s rich materials however little did they know that the Mar’s Ray that’s created from the magnetic Storm would create such a horrible deadly disease that killed of 20% of the population. Thus Earth shutdown it’s plans and left everyone there to suffer and die. The Mar’s colony later titled themselves “Veigans” and now they want to take revenge on the Earthlings.

Another resolved is that Dark Yole was the person who attacked and caused the Angel Fall incident which killed Flit’s mother and Grodek’s family, in due Grodek did the killing and Grodek tell’s Yark Dole’s son that he’s gonna have a miserable life, nice Grodek!

However before Yark Dole died, he mentioned Sir Ezelcant who is most likely the emperor of Mars and the mastermind of the whole thing.

Next episode is going to be a whole introduction of new characters and I wonder if Flit have forgotten Yurin – wait hear me out, I think Flit should continue to have memories of Yurin because at the end of this episode he vowed to take down UE, and since Grodek is in jailed because of treason he’s out of the picture unless there’s some kind of prison break that goes on. So I say it’s good to have memories of Yurin because it’s his drive to destroy UE, and if he doesn’t there’s no point. And I hope Flit isn’t just going to be the Mechanic from now on…  I hope he does get back on the battlefield.

PS: the animation on this episode is a lot better.

*Spoilers Alert*

     Episode 14 “A Flash of Sorrow”

     This episode drastically changing Flit as a character,  once last week’s episode ended and the preview had shown Flit encountering 2 UE units and one of them very feminine, everyone’s guesses would have been that was Yurin who was captured and convinced by Desil. In this episode they reveal more about X-Rounders, apparently Desil is able to also control Farsia the name of the suit that Yurin was in, however one of the requirement is to have a X-Rounder in it.  Sometimes never change in Gundam, not in a bad way when Farsia showed up with it’s booster and fangs/dragoon-lets call it petals it looks pretty darn cool- the petals not the suit. To be honest I though Flit would be captured, but surprisingly his newly X-Rounder power and rage from the death of Yurin enable him to finally climb over the hump which was Desil which Flit always had been embarrassed from last time(Desil took the Gundam for a spin). After defeating Desil, Flit seems to let up, he didn’t exactly finish him off, which can prove to a bad turnout later on in the series if Desil decides to come back for revenge.

   This episode mostly comprised of the Desil, Yurin and Flit fight, however we can’t forget about the Dark Merchant or Gerra Zoi, it seems they have a full operation happening until of course our ‘savior’ Flit Asuno who showed the universe Gundam. This time Flit brought the battle to their base, and now that they’re losing the fight, and this time he’s going to head out with his suit “Defurse” sicne Desil lost. Another surprise will be waiting for Flit when he comes face to face with Gerra next episode, there’s still the kid beside him during the whole battle, presumably another X-Rounder, in my guess Flit will have to lose at least a fight.

Operation Ambat is a go.

Episode 13 – “Space Fortress Ambat”

Finally the battle we’ve been waiting for. All the planning that leads to this fight and it doesn’t disappoint, albeit there were moments where you just want things to speed up. Most notable thing from this episode was Diva’s new Cannon ” Photon Blaster Cannon which the AGE System cooked up a few episodes back… what cool about it was that when I first saw it I didn’t think it was just a cannon so simply. Thought it would be something like along the lines of Macross Quarter, kind of disappointed to find out it was just a cannon. So for the cannon to work efficiently and to be able to fire, it hooks up to the AGE System. What  I found weird about this was… how did they manage to put that cannon on the ship and do all this with the original shape still intact. Note that when they change to Assault mode(what the cannon form is called) it does make significant transformation.

Funny thing about this series is that I found out a lot of people like to suicide to “protect” their comrades. Seriously how does suicide protect your comrade even if you’re trying to ran yourself into an enemies last attempt to kill you…

Another funny thing is… how about their space suits… especially Zalam’s don’t they look like Zakus?

I don’t want to spoil a lot but we find out the warship’s name that was stationed at Ambat was called “Fa Bose”. And I mentioned stationed. Because the Dark Merchant and a new possibly X-Factor person was viewing the entire fight where the Dark Merchant seems to want Earth and Earthlings to perish.

As for next episode looks like Flit and Desil round two and possibly Yurin in an UE mobile suit too.

Mmmm…Chocolate..

Episode 12 – “The Rebels Set Sail”

Happy New Year everyone . Last week Age was on a hiatus so this week it’s back, sorry no 1 hour special or anything though =/.

So this episode follows up on where we were left off, Chocolate-eating-man who wants to capture Grodek. Chocolate-eating-man this time finally has a name – Stoller Guavaran. Stoller arranged and has his fleet waiting for Grodek and Diva to launch into space.

Reason I enjoyed this episode more than the previous is that they dive more into Grodek and how became what he is now, more or less. This episode did lack some action but the main focus was the the strategic battle between Grodek and Stoller. Who had his 3 warship(Darwin-class space ship Blitz, Haloes and Warden) locked onto Diva. Stoller used an old cliche tactic that uses Signal flares to blind the enemy then get his mobile suits in on the enemy suit. Not sure if I remember any Gundam series doing the same thing, sure is new and pretty smart tactic .

Another interesting thing is how the other Gundam had “NewTypes” where Humans evolved and space colony human where NewTypes and and had great knowledge and where able to do special things on the battlefield. However on Gundam Age, Grodek reviews special people who unlock a special region on their brain called X-Region are known was X-Rounders, who are able to do special things on the battlefield. And on this particular episode Flit had unlocked it.

Episode 11 – “Reunion at Minsry”

After the passing of Don Boyage, Boyage had previously mentioned Grodek’s plans and Flit’s heroic speech that put a hault in Fardain’s fued to a man named ‘Alzack Birmings’. Alzack Birmings had decided to join Grodek with full support in his crazy plan – that sums up to Diva blasting it’s way in for Euba and other forces to infiltrate the UE fortress; Diva’s mobile suit squad will protect the ships. However one thing stands in their way – a chocolate-bar-eating man who has yet to be named(most likely next episode) has the guts to try and arrest and detain Grodek. Chocolate-bar-eating man was successful until Flit had stepped up to save Grodek and little did chocolate-bar-eating man learned he decided to call for backup and again try and capture now a whole fleet of rebels in space.

So Minsry the place that Alzack lives and surprisingly he had adopted Yurin. Yurn however disliked that fact that she was adopted and had always given Alzack a cold shoulder. After hearing the story Flit lets her know that Flit will be a “family” to her(saying this vaguely) during the next two weeks Flit spends time with Yurin and the planning of the battle. So surprisingly whenever Flit and Yurin are together Flit is so much more calm and shy compared to him and Emily where he’ll always have to raise his voice or yell. And he made the promise to return to Minsry and meet up with Yurin, you can see that they might be in a brother-sister relationship rather than lovers.

Episode 10 – “Day of the Fierce Battle”

Got to keep this short and sweet. Euba and Zalam decided to unite albeit it took the life of Don Boyage to finally finalize it. But it was a bitter sweet ending nonetheless. Don Boyage sealed it with his life.

This battle featured Desil and Flit, it was once sided for Desil until “Spallow” showed up and Flit did the mid-battle change up again and the fight went his side with his new weapon ‘Shiguru blade’

UE decided to fall back because of Spallow – which is an upgrade in its speed so it moves like an ninja. Euba announced that they and Zalam alliance and decided to join Grodek and Div on ‘Operation Ambat Capture’ against UE.
