The stars aligned for team Nigma at the WePlay! Bukovel Minor. They defeated the hottest team at the tournament 3-1 and captured the final spot to the next major.
It was another long night for team Nigma. The best-of-five series ended around 2:00 A.M. local time in the ski resort. It could have been longer, in the concluding game, Game 4, Royal Never Give Up had a 40k gold lead and it surely looked like both teams will have to play a fifth and decider match to find out who will be going to DreamLeague Season 13’s Leipzig Major.
The incredible defense put up by Nigma replied RNG and turned the tides. Fights started shifting in favour of Nigma when they were able to pull off huge combinations to crush every fight.
The defeat for RNG was also a self-inflicted, in Game 2, their mid player, Gao “Setsu” Zhenxiong was jumping into two to three Nigma players and dying and in Game 4, Setsu and Du “Monet” Peng was going in alone or didn’t pull out when the rest of the team already left the battlefield.
This was a revenge victory for Nigma, too. They were defeated in the upper bracket at the start of the playoff by Royal Never Give Up. Like in every tournament Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi has been in, he and his team has rallied from the depths of the lower bracket and taken all the way into the Grand Finals.
Team Nigma will be the 18th team joining the DreamLeague Season 13 Major next week in Leipzig, Germany.
Nigma takes home 72k USD and 140 DPC points, for now, they can earn more at the major and replace the 140 points. RNG takes home 60k and 120 DPC points and Geek Fam finishes third with 54k and 110 DPC points.
