Fnatic may have just won the last Dota 2 tournament for the foreseeable future. Fnatic did not hold back in the Dota Summit 12 tournament. They swept the up-and-coming OG Seed 3-0 in the best-of-five series.

Everyone thought Evil Geniuses were going to run away with this tournament and Fnatic a close second. However, after the group stages, the two finalists were the top two squads with the same record 2-3-0.

Fnatic had a strong run through the playoffs. They kicked Team Liquid down 2-0 then knocked Evil Geniuses into the Lower Bracket with a 2-1 series. In the Grand Finals they just look miles ahead of OG Seed. Game 1 was under 18 minutes, Game 2 was under 26 minutes, in Game 3, OG Seed was giving Fnatic a run for their money but the composure and coordination was clear which team was far superior.

Growing

Dota Summit 12 was a growing experience for many players and teams, but none other than Fnatic’s carry player, Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon.

He was brought into Fnatic at the start of the 2019-2020 Dota Pro Circuit season, his previous experience was playing in the Southeast Asia qualifiers with Team Jinesbrus.

Following Fnatic’s win, 23savage said this tournament was great for his growth as a player, “At first I [didn’t] have [much] experience, but now I gained quite a bit.” 23savage said.

For other players and teams, we’ve seen OG Seed come close in the European qualifiers, but this is their best finish yet.

As for Cloud9, they got hit hard, they did not win a single match in the tournament and went 0-10 through the group stages.

What’s next?

The next upcoming major qualifier is for EPICENTER on May 2nd, but I’m sure you’ve heard Valve and ESL has postponed the L.A. Major due to the coronavirus.

EPICENTER’s qualifiers could still happen but we will have to wait and see.
